Your florist has already designed every stem in place. Keep the arrangement intact and add a small amount of fresh water between the flowers so the hidden floral foam remains moist.

Use a narrow-spout jug, bottle or small cup. Pour slowly so water reaches the foam without splashing petals or marking the box.

01Unwrap carefully

Carefuly unbox the arrangement

Carefully lift the lid from the hatbox and avoid moving the flowers or greenery. Your florist has already arranged everything in the correct position, so the arrangement is ready to enjoy as received.

On arrival Protect the surface beneath the Hatbox. The box is decorative and should not be soaked.

Vase care

Clean water and a fresh cut.

Vase flowers last best when each stem can drink freely. Start with a spotless vase, remove leaves below the waterline and re-cut the stems with clean, sharp secateurs.

How a florist cuts the stems.

A clean angled cut opens more surface area for water uptake. Work one small group at a time so the stems return to water quickly.

01Wash the vase

Cut 2–3 cm at a 45° angle.

Hold the stems firmly and use clean, sharp secateurs or a florist’s knife. Make one decisive angled cut—never crush, tear or snap the stem ends.

Before arranging Remove every leaf that would sit below the waterline. Submerged foliage feeds bacteria and shortens vase life.

Unwrap, re-cut, arrange.

A hand-tied bouquet arrives tied and wrapped so it travels safely. Unwrap it on arrival, re-cut the stems and place the bouquet into a clean vase of fresh water.

Unwrapping a hand-tied bouquet.

The stems are bound so the shape holds. Keep the tie in place, cut below it, and the bouquet will sit in the vase exactly as your florist designed it.

Unwrap but keep the tie.

Remove the outer wrap only. The tie holds the spiral shape that gives a hand-tied bouquet its structure.

On arrival If the tie is wet or loose, replace it with garden twine at the same height.

Ceramic arrangements are designed in water-retaining floral foam inside the container. Leave every stem where it is and top up the water so the foam never dries out.

Open the delivery box gently and lift the arrangement using both hands. Keep the vase upright, then place it on a coaster or mat to protect your furniture.
