Bewley's Grafton Street

An almost century-old Dublin meeting place, where heritage, hospitality and the people who gather there continue to shape the experience.

Bewley's Grafton Street
There was only ever one place to begin.
A Dublin landmark built around meeting, making memories and bringing people together.

01 / Introduction

Irish businesses worth knowing, built with real care close to home.

We created the Flowers.ie Community to introduce our customers to the makers, cafés and brands building something with care close to home.

For almost a century, Bewley's Grafton Street has been part of the fabric of Dublin: a place to meet, to talk, to celebrate and to escape the bustle of the city outside.

02 / Heritage

An icon of Dublin, nearly 100 years in the making

Bewley's arrived on Grafton Street in 1927, but the wider story began even earlier. The Bewley family started trading in Dublin in 1840, with roots in the city's Quaker community and a pioneering spirit — helping to introduce Irish customers to teas and coffees from around the world.

When the doors opened on Grafton Street in 1927, Bewley's became one of Dublin's most distinctive and beloved meeting places. Over the decades it has welcomed generations of friends and families, alongside writers, artists, performers and visitors to the city — people meeting for morning coffees and Afternoon Tea, celebrating birthdays and milestones, and creating traditions passed from one generation to the next.

03 / Culture & occasion

More than a café

Culture has always been part of the character of Bewley's. Today the building remains a cultural hub in the heart of the city, bringing together food, coffee, theatre, art and music under one historic roof. At the Bewley's Café Theatre, audiences can experience live performance in the middle of Dublin — continuing the café's long connection with the city's creative community.

It's this combination of heritage and culture that makes Bewley's somewhere to experience, rather than simply somewhere to visit — a setting for everything from quiet afternoons to weddings, celebrations and special occasions.

As Bewley's approaches its centenary in 2027, its heritage isn't only about looking back. The café brings together almost a hundred years of history with contemporary hospitality, specialty coffee and tea, freshly prepared food and patisserie, Afternoon Tea, theatre and events. At its heart, the idea remains remarkably simple: bringing people together.
